Just like a climb to the top of a mountain, I believe that a business goes through 3 phases with regards to their technology.

Phase 1: Break-fix.

You don’t call your tech until it’s almost too late. Guess what? This is expensive!

You aren’t planning for any costs. You don’t know when you’re going to spend money on your tech infrastructure. You don’t know anything, except that it sucks when you have to call for some help!

Phase 2: Maintenance.

You’re making progress. You’re in touch with your tech on a regular basis. He’s telling you how things are running, and where there could be some improvements.

Not bad. At least it’s not a fire-drill. But we can do even better.

Phase 3. Return on investment.

This is the real deal. You have evaluated and are controlling your processes. You're leveraging your computer network. You have a website. They’re making all working in harmony to make you money.

That's the ticket.
